Overview

Today we enter a world of geological history. Our transportation will take us up to the highlands of Isabela. A clear day we have a fantastic view over the island. We start a relatively easy hike for less than an hour to reach the edge of the Sierra Negra volcano, an active volcano that last erupted on June 25, 2018. We hike along the edge of this colossal 9x8 km lava-filled crater, it’s amazing to look at the second largest volcano crater in the world.

Those who want can continue to Vulcan Chico, a slightly tougher hike. On this side it will be a more barren lava landscape, it takes almost an hour to the reminiscent Volcano Chico. We then return the same way. The bus is waiting for us to take us back to the hotel.
