Today we want to explore Tintoreras, a set of small islets within Villamil's bay. We leave from the port in a smaller boat for up to 15 people. We cross into the bay and start looking among the lava rocks, looking for sea birds, Galapagos Penguins and the Blue Footed Boobies. The island of Isabela is the northernmost point to find wild penguins - the only tropical penguin on the planet that nests in the northern hemisphere. After a 30-minute boat ride we get off the boat and start a hike. We walk through the lava landscape among big colonies of marine iguanas (seasonal). In the end of the hike we find the lava tubes where we can find White tip reef sharks resting in the calm waters. Then a short hike back to the boat. In the open bay we have the chance to try some snorkeling. We can see sharks, sea lions, sea turtles, and various species of rays. A much-appreciated trip.
