Itinerary

Day 1. Quito/Baños to Misahualli

After breakfast, we get on a bus either from Quito or Baños, a beautiful scenic ride from the Andes down to the Amazon basin. Misahuallí is the place where we will spend our first night.

Day 2. River navigation to our Lodge

Breakfast at the hotel, we gather up for some river navigation to go to our jungle lodge in the Amazon. As we go down the river, we will stop to visit the center that rescues jungle animals species that have been threaten and exposed to trafficking. Interesting to learn how they rehabilitate the creatures so they can be repatriated back to nature and their places of origin. A box lunch will be served on one of the islands of the river.

Afternoon visit to the Caiman´s lagoon and try to practice the Blow-pipe, with (no) poison darts. As an option, we offer river tubbing, where you slowly float on a rubber tube down the river, a relaxing and fun activity.

At 16:30 we are welcomed at the lodge, and after check-in, we can relax until dinner time at 19:00. A guided night walk is offered for those who want to explore more. We will for sure sleep tight with the sounds of the jungle in the background.

Day 3. Tour of the Amazon

After breakfast, we go for a River navigation to visit the Bird Lagoon, where observation of birds of the area is the main activity. We will also have time for some piraña fishing. As we continue the navigation we go to an island where we meet a Kichwa family, we learn about their way of life, their traditions, their medicinal plants, and their farming. A very unique chance to taste their food and the elaboration of the famous chicha of mandioc (Yuca). Lunch will be served back at the lodge where we will also have some time to relax and take in what we have seen and experienced throughout the morning.

In the afternoon will go for handcrafted gold washing on the Napo River Island. We learn about the ways used to wash the gold out of the river. Swimming on the river is also a memorable experience that ends at the beach.  if lucky we will watch the sunset at the Sumaco Volcano. Dinner will be served at the lodge.

Day 4. Return to Quito

We offer bird watching at sunrise time in the lagoon of the lodge, please bring binoculars.

After breakfast and farewell goodbyes, we get on the bus to go back to Quito, expecting to have a long drive through the Andes mountains again arriving in Quito in the late afternoon.
